Pictures from Yesterday, But it is Sunday!

This is the very large, scary looking "beetle" that Hubby captured yesterday on our front porch.  You will be relieved to know that after the photo shoot, the little fellow was released back into the wild to fulfil his part in the food chain. Neither of us cared to get very close, but if you look carefully, you can see the toe of Hubby's shoe or maybe not, since I obviously did not include the shoe.  Ugh.  I warned sweet Charlie of the importance of wearing gloves when gardening...  My warning fell on deaf ears.

The Canada Geese are still here with their little flock of growing goslings.  Oh, do they ever make a mess on the golf course!  The first time that I encountered their poop I was indignant that a "dog" owner would not pick up after his/her pet.  Hubby gently informed me that those rather large deposits were not from dogs.  More ugh....

Dear Hubby is actually reading my blog!  Last night he said, "What happened to the pictures that you took today?"  Can you imagine why he would ask that?  Of course, he uses the pictures to analyze his swing. LOL!!!  He has his handicap back down to a four, and his feet are really white.  Or are his legs really brown???
This is the 9th hole, and I was really glad to see it.  I was totally drenched by this time.  The heat index was around 103 by the time we arrived at this point.  And there was more to come!  Oh, joy!  It did make Hubby so glad to go out and play on a private course, which is what I always say when we are the only two playing.

Other than the heat (LOL!!!), the day and the course were perfect.  Well, my once clean dry-wick shirt wasn't smelling so great.  Can mildew actually happen while you are wearing something?  I mean, really???When I'm on the golf course, I'm contstantly looking at the sky, the clouds, the trees, backyard landscaping, etc.  I love golf courses!  They are so beautiful!!!

Then we went home to grill out.  Now we are using propane gas, as there is no natural gas here in the Village.  So, on Friday in anticipation of "the family" arriving, I had called the propane dude and inquired about how to tell if we were low or needed more gas.  He told me how to weigh the tank, subtract the difference, etc.  Well, we waited too long to do that.  The tank went "out" after Hubby started it Saturday evening.  So we had our pork steaks "grilled" on the stove top, and we enjoyed my version of fried okra, which is not how I remember my momma's okra tasting.  But "it is what it is."  And I told sweet hubby that if he thought that he could do it better, there was another pound left in the refrigerator!  LOL!!!  The Peanut Gallery went silent.  How do we say effective?

The last two pictures I took this morning before church.  They are of a very large, very yellow mushroom that is growing in a potted plant on the back patio.  Hubby informed me that he thought I had "planted" a ceramic mushroom in the pot until he gave it more inspection this morning.

While my sweetie golfed again after church (I had a "pass"), I went to Wal-mart to get a few things that we will need for when our guests begin arriving.

The first group arrives tomorrow.  It is a fellow co-worker from the City of Plano, another librarian, and her hubby.  I am looking forward to seeing them and teaching them "Hand and Foot."

Tuesday, the moving family (our second child and her husband and two little boys) will arrive from their trek across Texas from Colorado and on to the east coast.  We are so delighted to not only have our son-in-law back from Iraq, but to see the entire family together!

By Friday we should number 18.  We will include all of our children and their families and my hubby's sister and her son and his family.  That will be 6 children, if you dare count our precious Emily, who at age 14 is 5'9" and has the poise of a young lady.

This evening we attended a going away grilled hamburger/hotdog potluck for our younger assistant minister.  He is recieving his first appointment as a senior pastor.  While we are sorry to see him go, there is such joy in sending him off to take on the leadership of his own church.  It was hot and crowded, but it was also absolutely delightful to be a part of such an incredibly sweet event.
