Only a week since I last posted, but it seems much longer. I started feeling rotten on Tuesday and by Wednesday was completely drained after working the three days. I fought it the rest of the week and am now starting to feel better, but I still don't have my energy back to 100%.
Charles was out almost all week (I missed a fun conference at the Gaylord in Grapevine), so I mostly rested and knitted.
With Hurricane Ike knocking on the door, I took a Red Cross course for 6 hours this Saturday. That qualifies me to work in a shelter. Since our church is a shelter, I immediately volunteered and worked a two hour shift. Not so sure that it is my calling. I have some soul-searching to do. We all have different gifts.
We thoroughly enjoyed the sermon at the church where we are visiting. I come away wondering why we didn't find that church before now. But of course, it is because we didn't look. I have truly learned that not all churches are for all people. This church is simply another one of the same, Methodist, that we were attending, but with a more small town feel. The sanctuary is warm and inviting with lovely stained glass dating back to the late 1800,s, unless I'm mistaken. They have a choir at the early service. That choir wears choir robes and sings songs out of the hymnals. I can't believe how I am enjoying the quaintness of the setting. It's like having on the perfect pair of shoes! The fit is comfortable.
My heart remains heavy with concerns on my personal prayer list. There are many who are in need of God's help this week.
And although I wasn't feeling up to exercising this week, I still lost 2.8 pounds, for a total of 4 pounds in 2 weeks! Go, Nana!
The biggest excitement is coming up this week, as Ashley and Charlotte will be visting us. Both BC and I are so eager to see them both.
Must get on with some Sunday chores, so we will be ready for our guests.
Blessings,
Sandy
