The Week After

The children and beloved grandchildren are gone.  The house is quiet, clean, orderly.  Such a contrast.

I am enjoying the rest but I am still tired.  Yesterday I golfed 18 holes in a ladies church scramble at a course I had not yet played here in the Village.  It was beautiful!

Today I volunteered to help at the Rice Depot in Little Rock.  I am overwhelmed with what they do: emergency relief, backpack food, Habitat for Humanity pantries, food pantries, etc.  The work was physical and tiring.  I didn't arrive home until almost 2 PM.

I finished up laundry and waited for the computer guru to appear.  He was worth the wait.  The young man was marvelous and worked miracles on the PC that will soon be BC's personal computer, as his laptop will need to be turned in when he retires.

Today was also BC's stress test in Plano.  For the past 15 years, he has received high ratings at his annual stress test.  That did not happen today.  He will be having additional testing later this month at Plano Presbyterian Hospital.

Sixteen years ago, after his 5-way bypass, the docs told him that he would need a "repeat" in 10-12 years.  But check-ups came and went and each time, BC  had a great bill of health.  Now he has found that one of the major arteries is maybe 30% blocked.  It is a frightening time for us, since we have been through open heart surgery once.

Our middle child is in the moving process, still not in their home (I'm flying there to help next week) and our other daughter is due to deliver (scheduled) on August 2.

My faith is being tested.  Although I have cried (release of tension) this afternoon/evening, I am actually feeling better now that I have a few of my wits (shock is gone) and know that God is in control.  It's so much easier with Him at the steering wheel!

These are photos of our yard, back and front, taken by me yesterday before the storm that dumped another inch and a half on us.
