Yep, 43 years ago today, I at 19, and my sweet hubby, who was just 23 got married at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fayetteville, Arkansas. We were both skinny, hopeful, and full of dreams of a family one day. God has given us a good life. We try to celebrate and enjoy each day as it comes.
In those 43 years, we have endured the lost of our first baby, the births of three beautiful children, first days of kindergarten, broken bones, trips to the emergency room, part-time jobs to supplement income, marriages and divorces of our children, miscarriage of grandchildren, son-in-law's deployment to Iraq, son losing his job and being unemployed, etc.
We have made it through a five-way bypass (him), cancer (me), chemo, radiation, and recovery (me), gallstones, kidney stones (him) and the building of three homes.
We have become grandparents four times with a fifth time around the corner, traveled abroad, met wonderful people, trusted in God for guidance, and grown in our faith together.
He has taught me to play golf, and I've signed him up for Face book. Both are coming along about the same. I have a handicap of about 40, and he doesn't want to be friends with anyone. LOL!
Today I was supposed to go to Benton, which is a really big deal when you live way out here in the Village. I was looking forward to going to Kohl's and shopping for a Father's Day gift or birthday gift. My friend suggested lunch at a Bistro here because she was waiting to get scheduled for an MRI this afternoon. It was all good with me.
Oh, my gosh! I have arrived. I have finally found a restaurant that serves not only a portabella mushroom sandwich, but one that is the best I've ever had! Sorry Red Robin in Colorado! The fruit was absolutely outstanding. I asked the waitress what type of tea that they used. Her reply was, "High quality." I thought that was so cute.
Then another friend invited me over for chicken, rice, and Brussels sprouts. The "dessert" was a low-fat parfait of yogurt and granola to die for!
I hate to say this but our 43rd anniversary was very nice for both of us, even if we weren't together... He got to play golf in the sun, and I got to eat with friends and talk. It's all good. My day even ended with rain, which we so desperately needed. Thank you, God!
Happy Anniversary!!! We are so happy for the two of you! What a wonderful life you have shared! Here's to many more wonderful year's!! Love y'all!

It sounds as if you and us have had our share of sadness and pain mixed with happiness and joy along the path of life. Right now we are finding joy in the midst of problems that come with old age and taking each day as it comes also. Thankfully, we all four have God as the center of our lives and that makes it all bearable. Love and Joy, Ann
