Sunday morning our routine changed. We attended Sunday School here for the first time. That meant a later church service and a later tee-time.
We played 18 holes with friends, dripping wet by the time we were finished. The wet was not from rain, but from sheer heat and humidity. Boy, was it warm! When I went into the clubhouse to post the scores, the gentleman behind the counter said that it was 102 with the heat index. I will take his word for it!
We went to dinner with our golfing friends, also Texas transplants. I had a salad, as my body was so warm, it was yearning only for cool and cold!
At home, we watered, checked outdoor plants, then I came inside. Charlie had a shower, but I opted for a mineral soak in the bubble tub. It was relaxing. And I was exhausted from the busy day and the heat, so it was straight to bed for me.
This morning I started my schedule leaving the house for errands at 9:30 am and returning at almost 3:30PM. That was just enough time to put away the perishables before hopping in the car and going to church for continuing education for Stephen Ministers.
Back home I put on an old favorite (Peachy Glaze Chicken) to cook, printed out yet another grocery list for the three younger grandchildren, and planned my day tomorrow.
Julissa is coming early to assist with cleaning. Okay, so Julissa does most of it, but Charlie and I thoroughly cleaned his office floor last week, even removing the desk and carpets. Julissa gets the big part of the house, while I take care of the kitchen, butler's pantry, and laundry room. And if I am fast, I can even get to the bird's sun room before she does. We shall see.
The afternoon will lead me to Hot Springs for my car's 30,000 mile tune-up. I am about 500 miles ahead of schedule, but it's good timing for me, so I'm "taking the bull by the horns," as my mother would say.
The only pictures I've had in two days are above. I took them this afternoon as I crossed Lake Balboa from the west. Since there was no traffic behind me, I stopped and caught these two scenes. Notice the mountains in the background of one. It was truly a beautiful day here in the Village!
