Water

Water, beautiful water is surrounding us this morning.  It apparently rained all evening, and it has continued through out the day.

I took the camera outside and tried some different settings, then brought it indoors to see how the "aquarium" setting would work.  I'm thinking that it doesn't look too shabby.  LOL!!!

It is one of those rare days when I have no obligations, other than to deliver deviled eggs to the home of a neighbor for a funeral luncheon.  I have done that, and so the afternoon is calling to me to kick back and read.

We just said "good-bye" to the young man who will soon be taking my sweet husband's place when the dear man finally decides that the company really can go on without him.  It may be a hard adjustment, but with so many activities to do here and so many golf courses, I can't imagine anyone missing a job.  As much as I loved my job, I do not miss it.

I finally sat down with a notebook this morning and began menu planning for when the family is all here together in June.  It promises to be a wild and crazy time, as always when families gather.

We have recently heard the calling of a whip-poor-will in the early evenings.  In researching them, I found that they are actually nocturnal birds.  I love their call, first taught to me by my own daddy when I was just a little girl, and Daddy would take me fishing out on the river by Neil's Bluff in northwest Arkansas.

Luke, our guest, was amazed by the number of lightening bugs evident in the woods in the early evening.

This looks off into the woods to the right at the back of our house.  We are having a "Water Feature" installed there beginning next week.  Another new addition is going to be a raised bed for me.  I feel that my herb garden has become a multi-purpose garden.

I love this land. I love this new life. Now if I could just find a home remedy that really works for getting rid of gnats....
