Home Again, Home Again, Jiggety Jog
What a lovely Fourth of July!
It was delightful having Granddaughter #1 with us this year on our country's birthday.
While Granddad competed in a golf tournament, the two of us headed to the old downtown square to enjoy lunch, browsing, and meandering through some antique stores. It's hard to say which of us enjoyed it the most, but it was obvious who was "not" used to the heat. Yep! The girl from the mountains of Colorado asked me how I stand the heat. LOL!!!
The old fashioned soda fountain was closed for repairs, so we had lunch in an English pub, which proved to be more of an adventure than I was ready for during the lunch hour. I did finally get my third choice of entrees' sometime about 45 minutes after we sat down... ;-)
Back home, it was swimming for the Granddaughter and Granddad, while the Nana enjoyed a bit of free time on the computer and a trip to the grocery store for supplies.
Our traditional 4th of July fare was grilled hot dogs with turkey chili (no beans, this "is" Texas), watermelon, and two flavors of Blue Bell ice cream to top it all off.
While Nana pulled kitchen duty, loaded the washing machine - straight from the suitcase, and started the dishwasher, the two "others" went to the links to try to hone their putting skills.
By then it was time to play some spades. We allowed the "grand" to whip us with a crackpot card game (that we think that she invented) the previous night. It was fun to finally let the adults have a turn at winning.
Next we headed towards where the city fireworks were to be displayed and parked in a median with several hundred other folks who had the same great idea. LOL!!! It was worth it. Granddaughter said that it was awesome! It is obvious that she is having a delightful time. Day 1 is successful!!!
Must post quickly as the 4th is quickly going to disappear.
Tomorrow is off to World Market at the request of the one who "used" to be Dr. Tiny Evil. LOL!!!
Blessings,
Nana
