New Year: New Thoughts, New Goals
That "other" year is gone, and 2008 is here in full dress uniform! We have enjoyed temperatures this week from -1 with the wind chill when we left Kansas on New Year's Day, until today when the high was above 70! What a contrast.
Yesterday we stepped out of our comfort zone and had five of our friends over for a very early dinner (5 PM). We are still on "Kid Time!" LOL!!!
I served Black Bean Hummus (homemade) with chips and a variety of nuts for appetizers.
We feasted on a Paula Dean recipe (Chicken Casserole with Green Beans) suggested by one of our two daughters, a tossed salad, Rose's Baked Apples, and Good and Grainy Bread. Dessert was Chocolate Chip cake with a variety of ice creams. It was a success! The best part was sitting down to visit with friends and share stories.
The amusing thing is that our house got very warm (76), and Charles had to turn on the fan. Who would guess that would happen when it's been in the 20's here this week...
Not much else new going on. My head is spinning with mini-projects that need to be started.
We do have someone coming this week to give us an estimate on replacing the counter top in the kitchen.
Welcome, 2008!
